“The Narrow Door to Salvation”
Ephesians 6:1-9, Psalm 145, Luke 13:22-30
Today’s Gospel presents a profound teaching on salvation. Jesus emphasizes the importance of entering through the narrow door, underscoring that He is the sole path to redemption (Matthew 7:13-14, Acts 4:12).
The question arises: “Will those who are saved be few?” (Luke 13:23). Jesus responds, “Anyone who enters by the door shall be saved” (John 10:9), indicating no limitation on the number of saved individuals. Revelation 7:9-10 reinforces this, describing “a great multitude that no one could number.”
To enter the narrow door requires striving, which involves hearing and keeping God’s Word, as well as working out our salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). Sincere effort invites divine grace.
Jesus warns, “Many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first” (Luke 13:30). This calls us to prioritize God in all aspects of life.
In the first reading, Paul exhorts us to love and respect one another, fulfilling God’s laws through these virtues.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, have mercy and forgive us. Holy Spirit, grant us the grace to do Your will and attain salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
