Expressing the Mission of Christ
1 John 4:19–5:4/ Psalms 72:1-2, 14 /Luke 4:14-22
In Luke 4:14-22, Jesus defines his mission in his hometown of Nazareth, saying: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
This mission is a call to set at liberty those who are in pains. We are surrounded by people who are poor, oppressed, brokenhearted, and blind. It is our duty to help them.
We can instruct the ignorant, and through guided study liberate those in darkness. Let us express the mission of Christ in our daily lives and render sincere guidance to
In addition, the first reading emphasizes that loving God and loving our brothers and sisters are inseparable. We cannot claim to love God and hate our neighbours. For the love of God, love others.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us to express your mission in our daily lives. Give us the courage to stand up against shady deals. Amen.
