From Praise to Action
Galatians 3:22-29; Psalm 105; Luke 11:27-28
Today’s Gospel narrative presents a poignant moment where a woman from the crowd exclaims, “Blessed is the womb that bore you and the breasts that nursed you!” (Luke 11:27). This spontaneous declaration reflects how eternal truth emerges in unexpected places. Do we listen attentively or dismiss them?
Jesus’ response to the woman, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!” (Luke 11:28), underscores the imperative to not only listen but also act upon God’s truth. As James 1:22 admonishes, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Let’s move from hearing to doing.
Again, the woman’s declaration “Blessed is the womb that bore you…” also fulfills the prophecy regarding Mary, “All generations shall call me blessed” (Luke 1:48). Are you part of that generation? Let us honour Mary and abide by God’s word.
As we reflect on the woman’s declaration, let us move from praise to action. Lets us not flatter ourselves (fire man, cabasha) but live out our faith concretely. Let us translate our praise into tangible acts of love, compassion, and service, and become living witnesses to God’s truth.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, your love for us surpasses our deepest desires. Forgive our transgressions, grant us peace, and guide us toward salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
