Genuine Faith
Galatians 5:1-6; Psalm 118; Luke 11:37-41
Today’s liturgy reminds us that authentic faith surpasses external manifestations. Jesus’ interaction with the Pharisees underscores the disparity between mere religious ritual and sincere devotion.
As St. Paul emphasizes in his letter to the Galatians, spiritual purity is paramount. In Christ Jesus, faith that expresses itself through love transcends physical distinctions like circumcision or uncircumcision (Galatians 5:6).
We are cautioned against prioritizing external observances over the substance of faith and love.
Today the Church celebrates the memorial of Saint Teresa of Ávila. She emphasizedInterior prayer, humility, detachment, love and charity.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, transform us into genuine worshippers, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Free us from pretence, guiding and protecting us throughout this day. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
