HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

“Stretch Out Your Hand”
 Hebrews 7:1-3, 15-17; Psalm 109; Mark 3:1-6

In today’s Gospel, Jesus performs a miraculous healing by restoring a withered hand. However, the Scribes and Pharisees criticize Him for breaking the Sabbath protocols. Jesus teaches us that love and compassion must be the foundation of every law.

We are called to stretch out our hands to care for the needy and disabled. Our hands have been released from the constraints of selfishness, and we are free to serve others. Let us use our hands to work for the good of society and to make a positive impact on those around us.

The first reading reminds us of the priesthood, saying, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek” (Hebrews 7:1-3, 15-17). Let us pray for those who have been ordained as priests but have since abandoned their vocation. May they remain close to the Lord and may their priestly charism continue to inspire them.

As people of God, let us stretch out our hands to help one another. May we be guided by the principles of love, compassion, and service.

Let us pray
Shed your clear light on our hearts, Lord, so that walking continually in the way of your commandments we may never be deceived or misled. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
