LEADERS
HEBREWS 13:15-17, 20-21; PSALM 23; MARK 6:30-34
The Gospel calls leaders to care and fend for their followers like the Good Shepherd who is compassionate. Without leaders the society will be in disarray. With bad leaders we are still going to suffer same. We are suffering so much today because we do not have compassionate leaders. Rather than feeding the 5000 and more, leaders of today are extorting them. Simon Sinek says; “Leadership is not about being in charge. Leadership is about taking care of those in your charge.”
Sti on this same theme; the first reading calls us to have confidence in Church leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over us as those who must give account. There are those who frequently believe that Church leaders are not doing much and so they do not merit our loyalty. Beloved no one takes the ministerial honour upon himself. If we must enjoy their covering we must submissive to their authority. You cannot benefit the grace you denied. Leaders must equally be godly in their behaviour, and examplary in their service.
Moreso, we are equally reminded of our responsibility as congregants. We must join our leaders in the spread of the gospel. Evangelization is a divine mandate that has been laid on us all. Each of us must make sincere effort to reflect the gospel wherever we are. Be an ambassador of Christ Jesus.
Lastly, let us continue to pray for ourselves, encourage one another and see that the light of Christ does not grow dim. Times are hard; do not give up; let brotherly love continue and we shall all succeed.
LET US PRAY
All-powerful, eternal God, splendour of true light and never-ending day: at this return of the morning hour, chase away the night of sin and fill our minds with the glory of heaven. Amen.
