HOMILY FOR FRIDAY THE THIRTIETH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

PHILIPPIANS 1:1-11; PSALM 111; LUKE 14:1-6

“Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well, will not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?” Jesus asked this question to express his care and love for all; as against the Pharisees who had lost sight of the dignity of the people they claimed to lead. They cared more for animals than they did for their brothers and sisters.. Paul’s message to the Philippians reflects the concern and love every spiritual leader, parents, teachers and guardian ought to have towards God’s people. Therefore, we are invited to truly care for one another. Like Jesus, let us heal our world of hatred, carelessness and indifference. We also pray that our care for creation will always begin with championing the rights of the poor and those mostly in need.

LET US PRAY

 The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
