Jeremiah 23:5-8; Psalm 72; Matthew 1:18-24
Jeremiah prophesied that a descendent of King David will reign as true king. This prophecy was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. However, this did not just happen at random; the gospel tells us how Joseph and Mary came to be together and the dilemma Joseph had when he discovered that Mary was already pregnant. Being a man of faith, Joseph kept the instruction that was given to him by the Angel in a dream. Mary and Joseph are primary examples of obedience to God’s will. Let us obey God’s will and encourage others to accept the will of God for their lives. When God speaks obey him.

Grant, we pray, almighty God, that we who are weighed down from of old by slavery beneath the yoke of sin, may be set free by the newness of the long-awaited Nativity of your Only Begotten Son. Who lives and reigns with you.
