HOMILY FOR THURSDAY THE OCTAVE OF EASTER (8/4/2021)

ACTS 3:11-26; PSALM 8; LUKE 24:35-48

While the disciples were still troubled over what has happened. “Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you!’ To all those who are troubled Jesus the risen Lord greets you peace. To all those in a state of alarm and fright, those who are seeing ghost in their daily living – living in fear and are scandalized by Christ’s death, a neighbuor’s death or the fall on a hero;  the resurrected Lord greets you peace. Peace to your soul; do not be afraid. Life has changed not ended. Just as Jesus asked for a food to clear the doubt of the disciples so also He has come to clear our doubt. He clears our doubt today when we interact with him in scriptures and believe what he has revealed to us. One of the greatest problems of the disciples was that they did not believe the words of scripture. Anyone Christian who does not believe the words of Christ as revealed in scriptures lives in fear and anxiety. Therefore, if we must break forth we must have faith and believe in God!

LET US PRAY

O God, who have united the many nations in confessing your name, grant that those reborn in the water of Baptism may be one in the faith of their hearts and the homage of their deeds. Give light to our souls and families that we may overcome the darkness of this world through the risen Lord. Amen
