HOMILY FOR SATURDAY, FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (17/7/2021)

EXODUS 12:37-42; PSALM 136; MATTHEW 12:14-21

In the Gospel, Jesus had to withdraw from a particular region because of the plot of the Pharisees against him. This is a right application of wisdom. He did not leave that territory because he was weak. Faith is good; anointing is good; skill is good but wisdom is profitable to direct. Beloved in Christ, in as much as we continue to pray against evil men and their plots, we must not cease to withdraw from their territory as well. In the first reading, God had to relocate the people of Israel from the land of Egypt – the house of bondage. Psalm.1:1 considers a man as blessed if he does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of scoffers.

LET US PRAY

Lord save us from evil plots and banish all the forces of evil from us, destroy them, vanquish them, so that we can be healthy and do good deeds. Banish from us all spells, witchcraft, black magic, ties, curses and evil eyes; diabolic infestations, oppression, possessions; all that is evil and sinful, jealousy, deceitfulness, envy; physical, psychological, moral, spiritual and diabolical ailments. Burn all these evils in hell, that they may never again touch us. Deliver us completely from the hose of bondage and give us the wisdom to resist evil. Amen
