1 Maccabees 6:1-13; Psalm 9; Luke 20:27-40
The first reading speaks of the fall and death of Antiochus. The bible says when Antiochus heard the good news of the restoration and rededication of the Temple he was astounded and badly shaken. He took to his bed and became sick from grief because things did not go as he had planned. He lamented bitterly before his death. Beloved, power fails; wealth fails but a good life is eternal. Let us aim at living a good life. In the Gospel, Jesus makes us to understand that Marriage is not destined to exceed earthly existence. Most of the things we kill ourselves for do not exceed this present life. Children of the resurrection are neither married nor given in marriage. As Christians regardless of our secular or religious status let us live a good life so that we can make heaven.
The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
