1 John 4:11-18/ Psalms 72:1-2, 10, 12-13/ Mark 6:45-52
“Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.” Moved with compassion and love for souls Jesus says to the disciples do not be afraid. Beloved, when you are in a scaring situation, a state of emotional challenge and spiritual anxiety, envision Jesus saying to you “do not be afraid”. Fear decreases hope and limits victories; but according to the first reading “Perfect love casts out all fear”. How? God is love – Perfect love. The closer we are to God in prayer, the less power fear has over us; because when we come close to God we feel his presence, strength and protection. God’s power is infinite. Today’s gospel reading shows that God is All-knowing, All-powerful and All-present. Therefore, one with God is majority.
PRAYER
Dear God, give me courage, I need courage to stand against humanity’s threats and attacks. I need courage to bear unkindness, mockery, contradiction. I need courage to fight against the devil, against terrors and troubles, temptations, attractions, darkness and false lights, against tears, depression and above all fear. Strengthen me with Your love and Your grace. Console me with Your blessed presence and grant me the courage to persevere until I am with You forever in heaven. Amen.
