HOMILY FOR THURSDAY THE THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR II (27/1/2022)

2 Samuel 7:18-19, 24-29; Psalm 132; Mark 4:21-25.
***************

“Is a lamp brought in to be put under a bushel, or under a bed and not on a stand?” The light of Christ must shine. We are carrier of his light to the world. At baptism we are told to keep this light burning brightly. If this light is kept under a bed it will not shine brightly. Thus, to sustain this light with a proper energy level we must have a clear conscience. We must strive daily to shine brightly through our words and actions. Light attracts likeness; light is loved, and light is always preferred to darkness. So, we must shine and attracts many to God. Like David in the first reading, let us go before the Lord in prayer. In the secret place we find energy to continue to emit divine rays in our daily lives. We grow cold and dim when we don’t pray.

LET US PRAY

Father, we praise and exult you as David did. By the power of the Holy Spirit may our light continue to shine brightly that many we give glory to your holy name. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
