HOMILY FOR MONDAY THE SECOND WEEK (14/3/2022)

Heralds of God’s mercy

DANIEL 9:4-10; PSALM 79; LUKE 6:36-38

“Yours is the integrity, Lord; ours the shame”. The first reading makes us to understand that God never fails to forgive us despite our sins. Whenever we ask him for forgiveness He never fails to pardon our offences. Precisely because of this, today’s psalm prays that “God should not treat us according to our sins.” Similarly, Ps.130:3 says “if you oh Lord should mark our guilt; Lord who will survive”. God does not mark our iniquities we too must be careful not to mark the offences of others. Jesus says in the gospel; “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. It is very easy to judge and condemn others until we step into their shoes. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Be heralds of God’s mercy and love.

LET US PRAY

O God, who have taught us to chasten our bodies for the healing of our souls, enable us, we pray, to abstain from all sins, and strengthen our hearts to carry out your loving commands. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
