2 Kings 19:9-11, 14-21, 31-36; Psalm 48; Matthew 7:6, 12-14
In our first reading we are presented with Hezekiah’s prayer. When the letter to denounce and overtake the kingdom was given to Hezekiah, the bible says; Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. When faced with trials who do will run to? After the prayer, the Lord saved the city. Beloved, when we resort to the Lord we get the best result. The Lord is ready to defend those who call on him in faith and trust. Sennacherib king of Assyria wanted to mock the King Hezekiah by taking over his city, like he did to other nations; but God shamed him. Today’s gospel warns “whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for this is the law and the prophets”. Treat others as you want them to treat you.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
*Saint Michael the Archangel defend us in the days of battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.*
