HOMILY FOR SATURDAY WITHIN THE OCTAVE OF EASTER

Acts 4:13-21; Psalm 117; Mark 16:9-15

In the gospel reading today Jesus gave the great mandate “Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News.” Mary Magdalene did this (Mk16:10-11); the two disciples of Emmaus did the same (Mk.16;13); all the disciples were mandated as well(Mk16:15). Peter and John in the first reading boldly exercise this mandate. This mandate is also given to each of us. Whenever we say the mass is ended it means that it is extended in our lives! Thus the priest or deacon says go forth or go in peace or go and proclaim the good news by your lives. Lord may we TRULY say thanks be to God.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
