HOMILY FOR TUESDAY: SIXTH WEEK OF EASTER

Acts 16:22-34; Psalm 137; John 16:5-11

Today’s first reading tells us of the imprisonment of Paul and Silas. Their miraculous release through prayers and praises led to the salvation of the Jailer. He who sings well; prays twice. There is something about praying and singing that the heavens cannot resist. In the gospel, Jesus continued his teaching on the Holy Spirit. The Holy is the secret of effective prayer. Lord Jesus send forth your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.

Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heartI embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
