Isaiah 26:1-6; Psalm 118; Matthew 7:21: 24-27
Who will enter the Kingdom of God? The first reading (Isaiah 26:1-6) says the righteous nation which keeps faith will enter. Psalm 24:4 says “Those who are pure in act and in thought, who do not worship idols or make false promises.” Such a man will enter the Kingdom of God.
For the Gospel; those who do the will of the Father will. Precisely because of this, Jesus says; “not all those who say ‘Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven”. It is very easy for people to call on the name of Jesus but that does not guarantee a place in heaven. We often call the Lord’s name yet we don’t do what he says. If heaven is our goal; we must keep faith, be of clean hands and pure heart, do his will and obey his word.
LET US PRAY
O my Jesus, forgive us of our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls into heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.
