HOMILY FOR FRIDAY THE FIRST WEEK OF ADVENT YEAR 1

Isaiah 29:17-24; Psalm 27; Matthew 9:27-31

Isaiah discusses the arrival of the Messiah and the rule of a better way of life under his reign. According to him, the lowly will be exalted, evil people will be silenced, and humiliation will be lifted.

In today’s gospel, we learn that two blind men who had faith in Jesus were able to have their sight restored. Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah. He was born to save us from sin and shame. He absolved them of the guilt of their ignorance and blindness.

We would be set free from our emotional and spiritual slavery by a personal encounter with Jesus. Let’s approach him in faith in order to find healing, wisdom, and salvation.

LET US PRAY

Father, grant us the grace to be docile to your promptings. Rescue us from the hands of the wicked and save our souls from death. Help us to start this day with a new attitude and plenty gratitude. Amen.
