HOMILY FOR THURSDAY: THE SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (19/1/2023)

JESUS AND THE PEOPLE

Hebrews 7:25-8:6; Psalm 40; Mark 3:7-12

The ministry of Jesus Christ includes preaching, healing, casting out demons, among many other things. They also shape the people’s fundamental desires, which is why they traveled to him from other countries.

The north, south, east, and west are represented by the specified locations in the gospel. This is a fundamental principle of Christian unity. Regardless of our tribes or languages, we all come to Jesus with the same needs. We come to him either for the word, healing, deliverance or salvation.

Jesus and his disciples retreated to the lake, and a sizable group of Galileans followed. Jesus never grew weary of the multitude because he had a passion for the salvation of many. We can take inspiration from his drive and spirit.

Jesus Christ is the high priest who actually meets our needs, as the first reading tells us. He lives to pray for them, thus he is able to entirely save those who approach God through him. Beloved, we cannot be divided and still pray to the same God.

LET US PRAY

God grant us the patience to work together. Let us work together with understanding and compassion in our hearts. Let us not be rude or arrogant towards one another, as we light the way to your heavenly kingdom. Amen
