1 Kings 19:9, 11-16; Psalm 27; Matthew 5:27-32 🗣🔥🔥🔥
In the first reading, Elijah stands on Mount Horeb (Sinai) and is visited by God in the gentleness of a light breeze. Silence is an absolute indicator of God’s presence. Let us not forget in a hurry the spiritual significance of silence in worship. As a matter of fact, in worship, the most important thing is not what we say, but what God says to us and through us. Thus, paragraph 30 of the Liturgy Constitution, Sacrosanctum Concilium, prescribes: “And at the proper times all should observe a reverent silence. In the Gospel, Christ speaks about divorce and adultery setting an ideal for us to strive towards. So, he reminds us to keep the oaths we swear. Eccl. 5:4 says “When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, because He takes no pleasure in fools. Fulfill your vow.” Lord Jesus, make us another Elijah to be able to stand for God and his Word.
My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Thank you for the good writeup. It in fact was a amusement account it.
