HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE SEVENTH WEEK OF EASTER YEAR 1 (22/5/2021)

ACTS 28:16-20, 30-31; PSALM 11; JOHN 21:20-25

Today’s gospel makes us to understand that a lot has been written about Christ and there are other things that Jesus did that were not written. However, what we have is all that we need for our faith – if we are willing to accept it. Franz Werfel says “For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible.”  Therefore, if we believe what we have is enough for salvation. Like the beloved disciple in today’s gospel we are called to ‘testify’ to the ‘great things the Lord has done’ in our lives. In Luke 1:49 Mary testified saying “For the Mighty One has done great things for me, holy is his name.”

LET US PRAY

Come Holy Spirit and fill our hearts with divine light that we may become true testimonies to our world. Rekindle in us the fire of divine love and may we be   truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation, through Christ, our Lord.
