1 THESSALONIANS 3:7-13; PSALM 90; MATTHEW 24:42-51
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. The Divine plan that Christ might come at an hour we do not expect leaves many of us nervous. If a date was slated many persons will plan their lives accordingly; even though a good number of persons will still be caught unawares. We see that already reflected in our attitude towards time. End time truth demands proper preparation not anxiety. There is no need to be afraid. Christ coming is not a calamity or a disaster rather it is a joyful expectation. Therefore, as we wait in joyful expectation the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ let us deepen our love for each other just as St. Paul exalts the Thessalonians in the first reading.
PRAYER
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things, I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Amen
