The Wisdom of Holy Exit
Exodus 12:37–42; Psalm 136; Matthew 12:14–21
In the first reading, God led the Israelites out of Egypt, the house of bondage. You can’t be free if you’re still dining in Pharaoh’s palace.
Psalm 1:1 tells us, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked…” Sometimes, your deliverance is not in fighting but in fleeing. That’s not cowardice, it’s strategy. Don’t just fight darkness; walk into the light.
Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife (Genesis 39:12). That was a holy exit, choosing purity over pressure. Paul escaped through a basket in Damascus (Acts 9:25). Not weakness, but wisdom.
You may be anointed, talented, prayerful, but without wisdom, you will fall into traps set by wicked men. Wisdom will tell you: this place is not safe, this friend is not loyal, this deal is not godly, this environment is not for you.
What “Egypt” are you still emotionally attached to, even though you’ve been spiritually released? The Egyptians you see today, you shall see them again, if you don’t leave Egypt.
Jesus didn’t stay to argue with the Pharisees or prove a point, He withdrew. Not out of fear, but out of wisdom. Power knows when to speak, but wisdom knows when to stay silent and walk away. Sometimes, walking away is not weakness, it’s spiritual intelligence.
We often pray against evil, yet we dwell too long in the territory of our enemies. Jesus withdrew because His time had not yet come. Stop lingering where God has called you to exit!
Prayer
Lord, deliver us from the plots of evil men. Give us the wisdom to follow Your path of peace. Free us from every spiritual Egypt and make us walk in liberty and light. May every snare of darkness be shattered, and may Your wisdom guide every step we take. Amen.
