When Effort Fails
COLOSSIANS 1:9-14; PSALM 98; LUKE 5:1-11
Peter laboured all night and caught nothing, until he obeyed Jesus’ word (Luke 5:5). Hard work without God’s blessing is emptiness. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Ps. 127:1). Skills, experience, and effort are good, but obedience to Christ makes the difference.
Even experts need divine wisdom. Peter was a seasoned fisherman, yet his breakthrough came when he trusted Jesus. Success is not just toil, it is grace. True discipleship goes beyond the catch: “They left everything and followed Him.” Detachment and obedience open us to the deeper mission—being fishers of men.
✓The Lord will lead you from empty net to abundant grace!
✓ By obedience you shall unlock your breakthrough
✓ Your labour will not be in vain.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, ease our struggles. Teach us to trust Your word, and make us true fishers of men. Amen.
