HOMILY – (DECEMBER 22, 2025) Fourth Week of Advent

From Hannah’s Tears to Mary’s Song

1 Samuel 1:24–28; 1 Samuel 2:1, 4–8; Luke 1:46–56

Hannah and Mary teach us that God works powerfully in the lives of those who refuse to give up. Hannah’s barrenness did not silence her faith; instead, it pushed her to fervent prayer. When God answered her, she returned the gift to Him with thanksgiving.

In the Gospel, Mary echoes the same spirit in the Magnificat. Hannah becomes a foreshadowing of Mary—both women show us that persistent prayer, humble trust, and total surrender always attract God’s intervention.

Advent reminds us that God is never late. Waiting seasons are not wasted seasons; they are wombs where faith matures. If you are praying and nothing seems to change, do not lose heart. What begins in tears will end in praise. Like Hannah and Mary, may our waiting become worship and our lives a hymn of gratitude to God.

PRAYER:

Lord, strengthen our faith as we await your promises. Turn our tears into praise and our waiting into joyful hope. Amen.
