HAVE FAITH
Jeremiah 31:1-7; Jeremiah 31 Matthew 15:21-28
In the first reading, God promises to restore His people after their suffering. He declares, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people” (Jer. 31:1). These words reveal a God who never abandons His children. Though circumstances may change, His covenant love remains constant. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;…(Lam. 3:22-23).
In the gospel reading, the Canaanite woman exemplifies the power of persevering faith. Though she was ignored, tested and seemingly rejected, she refused to give up until Jesus granted her request. Christ finally declared, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you desire” (Matthew 15:28). Her persistence reveals that faith does not quit because of delays; it trusts that God’s time is the best.
Moreso, the woman approached Jesus on behalf of her daughter. This is explains parental intercessory role. Parents, never stop praying for your children. Spouses, never stop praying for one another. Stand before God for your children. Job offered offered sacrifices for his children (Job 1:5). Monica interceded for Augustine. Never underestimate the intercession of a believing parent.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, may our prayers never grow weary, and may our confidence always rest in Your unfailing promises. Amen.
