GENESIS 37:3-4, 12-13, 17-28; PSALM 105; MATTHEW 21:33-43, 45-46
“Let us kill him: then we shall see what becomes of his dreams”. The first reading today presents us with the story of Joseph sold into slavery by his brothers. His brother rejected him and plotted evil against him. This reminds us of the plot to kill Jesus. Jesus used a parable to speak of this evil plot in the gospel reading. He says “This is the landlord’s heir: come, let us kill him”. Beloved, we are reminded of the devil‘s plot against our kingdom inheritance. We must resist the devil and make every effort to take possession of our Eternal inheritance. Again, this reminds us that the devil is always out to attack us and kill our dreams. House-hold enemies like the brothers of Joseph and the bad tenants never ceased to manifest; betrayal, ingratitude, pride and envy. Do not be afraid! The readings of today leave us with two basic keys: (1) We must stand up to the devil strong in faith (2) We must examine our lives and ensure that we don’t mastermind evil plans against others or manifest the characters of the bad tenants. God bless you.
LET US PRAY
Grant, we pray, almighty God, that, purifying us by the sacred practice of penance, you may lead us in sincerity of heart to attain the holy things to come. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
