HOMILY FOR TUESDAY THE TWENTY-SECOND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (31/8/2021)

1 THESSALONIANS 5:1-6, 9-11; PSALM 27; LUKE 4:31-37

“They were astonished at his teaching, for his word was with authority”. Today’s Gospel presents us with the authority of Jesus Christ. His authority is unlike what we have today. His authority is not coercive or forceful rather it is loveful. His authority makes impression on them and so it is worthy of proclamation and emulation. By that same authority he commands the unclean spirits, and they came out. Let us subject ourselves to his authority and be free from demonic possessions and manipulations.

PRAYER

Father, we beg you through the intercession and help of the Archangels Michael, Raphael, and Gabriel for the deliverance of our brothers and sisters who are enslaved by the evil one. From anxiety, sadness and obsessions, rage, death, and every form of the occult we beg you, free us, O Lord.
