HOMILY FOR SATURDAY THE 29TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1 (23/10/2021)

Romans 8:1-11; Psalm 24; Luke 13:1-9

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Rom.8:1). “No condemnation” can be defined in courtroom language. To have “no condemnation” declared means to be found innocent of the accusation, to have no sentence inflicted and no guilty verdict found. Believers in Jesus Christ will not face the condemnation of God if they live a worthy Christian life. Precisely becuase of this, Jesus calls us to repentance in the gospel reading. He says; “Unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Therefore, if we repent there is no condemnation for us now and later; but if we do not repent, we are condemned already (John 3:18).

PRAYER

Savior, I do not want to lose your treasured gift of eternal life; therefore, I am sorry for all my sins, and I repent of them all. I will make things right from today on. Please equip me with your Holy Spirit to always meet your expectations, and keep me fit for your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
