In Jeremiah 31:1-7 the Lord says he will restore the fortunes of his people. Jeremiah says to them; At that time,β declares the Lord, βI will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people.β This simply expressed Godβs everlasting love for his people. Beloved, Godβs love endures forever and we are product of that love. Thus, we should have faith when failure presses heavily on us. God never fails.
The woman in the gospel reading of today was repeatedly disappointed but she persisted in faith until she found result. Her daughter was restored. With faith, we too can overcome the trials we face. She came to Jesus for the sake of her daughter, this also tells us something about the interceding roles of mothers and parents. We can go on our kneels for our children, in faith we can go on our kneels for the intention of others. Beloved, your faith will determine your fate! Have faith!Β
Β LET US PRAY
Father, preserve us from faithless fears and worldly anxieties and grant that no clouds of this mortal life may hide from us the light of your love which you have shown us in your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
