GENESIS 41:55-57, 42:5-7, 17-24; PSALM 33; MATTHEW 10:1-17
The Gospel reading presents us with the appointment and mission of the twelve. The instructions given to them are of great relevance for us today regardless of environmental and cultural differences. Missionaries today must inculcate the spirit of detachment, dependence on God and courage in the face of opposition. In the first reading, Joseph was sold into slavery yet he became the hope of his people. Beloved, we are the hope of many if we don’t allow our trials to consume or discourage us. Therefore, as missionaries we must understand that God’s ways are not ours. We must learn to do away with own own desires and align with the Divine will.
LET US PRAY
Father, give us the grace to do your will. Help us never to be separated from you. In all trials, through the power of the Holy Spirit help us to prevail and win. In the name of Jesus, help us to rise against discouragement, disappointment, fear, and doubt. Amen.
