HOMILY FOR THURSDAY THE THIRTY FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I

Daniel 6:12-28; Psalm – Daniel 3:68-74; Luke 21:20-28

Today’s readings present us with two basic themes. In the first reading we have the theme of prayer; while the gospel presents us with ‘end-time message’. The simple relationship between both is that we need to be men of prayer to attain eternal bliss.  Daniel was a man of prayer and all those who tried to vilify his character were embarrassed when the lions did not devour him. Men of prayer go through challenges not problems; men of prayer are never devoured by the challenges they go through; men of prayer don’t give up in the face of difficulties and numerous challenges. We need to rise up in prayer to conquer the lions in these hard times and end-times.

LET US PRAY

Almighty Father, fill us with strength that we may stand and walk in victory. Jesus, cleanse us from anything that is blocking us from walking in victory. Oh Holy Spirit, let hope fill our hearts so that we can rise and stand firm in your promises. Amen.
