HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY THE SIXTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR II

James 1:19-27; Psalm 14; Mark 8:22-26

“HEARING AND DOING”

James in the first reading speaks on hearing and doing of God’s word. He says we should not deceive ourselves by simply listening to his word; we must put it into practice. Again, he adds sayings; no one should think of himself as religious when he cannot control his tongue. James wants us to be real and true to our Christian faith. Therefore, let us get rid of every filthy habits and wicked conducts.  Similarly, today’s gospel speaks of the gradual restoration of the sight of a blind man at Bethsaida. Beloved, through the daily entrance of God’s word to our souls let us gradually put away the habits of sins and put on the light of Christ.

LET US PRAY

O God, who teach us that you abide in hearts that are just and true, grant that we may be so fashioned by your grace as to become a dwelling pleasing to you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
