ACTS 15:1-2,22-29/PS.67:2-3,5,6,8/REV.21:10-14,22-23/JOHN 14:23-29
Fr. Daniel Evbotokhai
Todayโs Gospel gives us part of Jesusโ farewell speech, a moment when He could have handed out riches, lands, or worldly power. Instead, He gave something far more valuable: peace. โPeace I leave with you; my peace I give to youโฆโ (John 14:27). Why? Because peace is the greatest legacy. It outlasts possessions and outshines status. What good is wealth without peace to enjoy it?
In todayโs world, families are torn apartโnot by war, but by wills. Siblings wrestle over properties while forgetting the true wealth of unity. Parents, like Jesus, leave behind peace, not just inheritance. A family at peace is richer than a house full of gold.
But Jesusโ peace isnโt like the worldโsโfragile and fearful, guarded by guns and gates. His peace comes with heavenly confidence, calm in crisis, joy in chaos. Every time we celebrate Mass, the Church echoes His words: โPeace I leave with you; my peace I give you.โ And then we offer it to each otherโnot just as a greeting, but as a gift.
This peace doesnโt come alone. Jesus also promised **the Holy Spirit**, the Advocate, the Teacher, the Reminder. In a world flooded with confusing voices and false teachings, the Holy Spirit is our compass. In Acts 15, we see the Spirit guiding the Apostles to truth, a truth that shaped the early Church.
And what about us? The Holy Spirit is still active, still teaching, still reminding, still empowering us. He brings to remembrance the words of Jesus, the wisdom of tradition, and the power of Scripture. Without memory, we lose our way. Without the Spirit, we lose our fire.
So today, choose peace over pride. Choose Spirit over self. Leave a legacy not of division, but of divine direction. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, and may the Spirit guide you into all truth. Amen.
Today marks the 58th World Communication Sunday, with the theme: โArtificial Intelligence and the Wisdom of the Heart: Towards a Fully Human Communication.โ This theme challenges us to reflect deeply on how we use technology especially AI in shaping the way we speak, share, and connect. As the digital world expands, we are reminded that no machine can replace the human heart. True communication goes beyond algorithms; it requires wisdom, empathy, and love. As Christians, we are called to communicate like Christ, with truth, compassion, and integrity, using every tool available to build a world where technology serves humanity, not replaces it.ย
Prayer
Father, fill us with your holy Spirit and power, knowledge to use the tools available for the good of humanity and salvation of souls through Christ our Lord. Amenย
