TRUE WORSHIP
2 CORINTHIANS 9:6–11 | PSALM 112 | MATTHEW 6:1–6, 16–18
Beloved in Christ, the gospel today hits hard and deep, it calls out the spiritual drama we often perform in the name of worship. Jesus is not impressed by how loud your prayer sounds, how dramatic your fasting looks, or how visible your giving is. He’s not watching your hands; He’s searching your heart.
We live in a world obsessed with likes, views, and applause, even in the Church! But true worship isn’t a performance, it’s a personal sacrifice, a secret surrender, an unseen offering to an audience of One.
Christ lays out three divine markers of authentic spirituality: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. But hear this: God doesn’t bless display; He blesses devotion. When you fast, don’t seek pity. When you give, hide your camera. When you pray, don’t put on a show, enter the secret place where heaven responds to humility.
Saint Paul reminds us today that giving must be done cheerfully, not grudgingly. God is not fooled by appearance; He sees motive. Worship that doesn’t cost your pride isn’t worship at all.
Are you worshiping to touch heaven, or performing to impress the crowd? Are you fasting for transformation or for attention?”
Today, God is calling us to strip off the mask, ditch the religious costumes, and come real before Him. This is not the season for fake fire, this is the hour for raw, honest and heaven-shaking worship.
Let us pray
Lord, open our eyes to see the pride that hides in our piety. Burn away every form of self-promotion masquerading as devotion. Deliver us from worship that seeks applause and lead us into secret places where hearts are transformed. Make our prayers pure, our fasting deep, and our giving joyful. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
