BURNING BRIGHT, NOT BURNING OUT
Exodus 3:1-6, 9-12; Psalm 103; Matthew 11:25-27
The Burning Bush reveals God’s miraculous presence, burning but not consumed. It reminds us that when God fuels our passion, we burn with purpose without burning out. With God as our fire, we are sustained, not scorched.
In a world obsessed with overworking, overthinking, and overdoing, many are burning out in the name of success (even in ministry). But God’s fire is different. It purifies, enlightens, and empowers without exhausting. His presence does not deplete us; it completes us. Success is good, but don’t burn yourself out.
Today we celebrate Our Lady of Mount Carmel, she models a divine balance. She carried the fire of Christ within her and remained full of grace, not stress. She was blessed, not stressed. Her silent strength, humble trust, and unwavering “yes” show us how to serve with peace and glow with God’s light, not our own.
As you carry out your work and ministry, be like the Burning Bush, be signs of God’s presence, don’t be consumed by the weight of the world! Shine brightly, don’t burn out!
Prayer:
Lord, teach us to burn with your fire and not with the fuel of anxiety or pride. Help us find strength in surrender, and may we reflect your light without fading. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
