HOMILY FOR TUESDAY OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (Memorial of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary)

The Good Portion

Jonah 3:1–10; Psalm 139; Luke 10:38–42

In today’s Gospel, Jesus visits the home of Martha and Mary. While Martha was busy serving, Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, listening. Jesus praised her choice, “Mary has chosen the good portion.”

Like Martha, many of us get lost in church activities but forget the essence, listening to Christ. True service flows from His word; otherwise, we work hard but miss His will.

As we celebrate Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, we recall that victory in life and faith begins on our knees. The Rosary is not old-fashioned; it is our weapon of victory and peace.

Let us choose the better portion, the Word of God and the discipline of prayer, for these can never be taken away.

Prayer:

Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, teach us to listen like Mary and to serve with love like Martha. Amen.
