One Soul Matters
Romans 14:7-12;Psalm 26:1,4,13-14; Luke 15:1-10
Today’s parables of the lost sheep and coin emphasized the value of the “one”. The one sheep, one coin, one sinner. God is obsessed with the one we easily forget. This is the heart of God: no one is too small, too dirty, too broken, or too far gone to be pursued by His mercy. While pastors sometimes celebrate the size of the crowd, God celebrates the return of one soul. Crowd impresses men, one soul impresses God.
When the lost are found, heaven rejoices. Jesus is teaching us that repentance is not a moment of shame, but of celebration. The Pharisees complained that Jesus welcomed sinners, but He showed them that this is exactly what God does. He searches, He finds, He forgives, and He rejoices. So, if God is searching with such intensity, should we not join Him?
St. Paul reminds us in Romans 14:7–12: “None of us lives for himself, and none of us dies for himself. We shall all stand before the judgment seat of God.” This means we are not spectators in salvation, but participants in God’s rescue mission. Don’t be swayed by the crowd, go in search for the one.
PRAYER
Lord, give us Your heart for the one. Amen.
