Faith Without Signs
James 1:1-11, Psalm 118:67-68,71; Mark 8:11-13
My brothers, you will always have your trials but, when they come, try to treat them as a happy privilege; you understand that your faith is only put to the test to make you patient, but patience too is to have its practical results so that you will become fully-developed, complete, with nothing missing.
Being a Christian does not exempt you from trials, it prepares you for them. A faith that collapses under pressure was never rooted deeply. Trials reveal what sermons cannot; it reveals your spiritual stamina.
Mark 8:11–13 is so instructive, true Christians don’t search for signs. We must not wait for a sign before we believe God’s truth. If we do; then we have no faith. The question of Jesus in the Gospel is relevant today. “Why does this generation ask for a sign? “ people ask for sign when they are in trial, some ask for sign as a form of discernment, some ask for sign as answer to prayers. All put together, it’s faithflessness that seems for sign. Faith does not require sign.
LET US PRAY
Father, we ask for pardon and grace to overcome faithflessness. Help us to be strong. Fill us with the Spirit of love, patience, kindness and joy.
