HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE THIRTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME

True worship

Amos 5:14-15, 21-24; Psalm 50; Matthew 8:28-34

God desires more than our prayers; He desires our transformation. Through the prophet Amos, He declares, “Take away from me the noise of your songs, I will not listen to the music of your harps. Let justice roll down like waters” (Amos 5:23-24). Worship without holiness, prayer without integrity, and faith without work are merely noise before God.

In the Gospel, after Jesus delivered the two demoniacs, the people asked Him to leave (Matthew 8:34). Why? They valued their pigs more than the freedom of two human beings. Sometimes we do the same. We pray for change but resist the conversion it demands because it threatens our comfort, habits, or dishonest gains.

See, don’t ask Jesus to enter your life if you are unwilling to let Him change it. True worship is not measured by how loudly we sing but by how deeply we are transformed.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, remove every obstacle to my conversion and make my worship pleasing in Your sight. By this seventh month, we are growing better, fulfilling purpose in Jesus name. Amen.

Happy New Month
