HOMILY FOR THURSDAY, FIFTH WEEK OF LENT YEAR A

Genesis 17:3-9; Psalm 104; John 8:51-59

Fr. Dan Evbotokhai

In the first reading
we see God making his covenant with Abraham and his descendants. This covenant goes with a promised inheritance. In the gospel, that which was promised to Abraham came to pass in the person of Jesus. He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that we who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance. May the Lord free us from sin and guide us to the inheritance He has promised.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help, or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen.

I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog
that’s both equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you have hit
the nail on the head. The issue is an issue that too few men and
women are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I came across
this in my search for something regarding this.
