Homily for Monday 20: of the Second Week of Easter

Acts 4:23-31; Psalm 2; John 3:1-8

In today’s first reading Peter and John have been released and they continued preaching boldly. The boldness of Peter and John is a characteristic of the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit we are bold to say no to sin and yes to God. Early Christians faced persecutions, rather than being depressed they prayed to God for protection.
In the gospel Jesus speaks to Nicodemus about baptism and the need to live out the faith. All the baptised have an obligation to proclaim the Risen Lord as did Peter and John. Use your time and faith well.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
