DEUTERONOMY 34:1-12; PSALM 66; MATTHEW 18:15-20
Beloved in Christ, we must accept that dealing with legal problems, internal conflicts and with erring members of the Christian body is not always easy. Today’s gospel addresses this issue; it expresses the role of dialogue and the need for agreement at all times. The Gospel also accepts that there is the possibility of those who will not change irrespective of the reconciliatory efforts made; such persons it says should be treated as pagan. Beloved, where two or three are gathered, misunderstanding is unavoidable. Your response to correction shows your true person. If you are corrected today harden not your heart. Like St Clare whose memorial we celebrate today let us be open to grace. St. Clare, help us.
LET US PRAY
Father, we ask for your help to set aside our differences and look to the greater cause, the cause of Christ. We need your unity and your love to stir our hearts and give direction to our days. We need your wisdom to guide us and your Spirit to lead us. Amen
