HOMILY FOR THE VISITATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Visitation

Zephaniah 3:14-18 | Isaiah 12 | Luke 1:39-56

We are brothers and sisters… yet we don’t visit ourselves. We live next door, share pews in the same church, and even sing “we are family in the Lord”, but when last did you truly check on your brother or sister? When last did you visit, not because someone died, but simply because someone lives?

We have become a people who wait for tragedy to reconnect. Even a phone call feels like a chore. But look at Mary: once she received the message from Angel Gabriel, she arose in haste and went to visit Elizabeth not out of duty, but out of love!

Every Godly visitation brings transformation. Visitation in Scripture is never casual, it’s powerful! The Angel visited Mary, and Christ was conceived. He visited Zechariah, and hope was restored through John. He visited Jesus in Gethsemane, and strength was imparted. God visited Abraham, and nations were born. He visited the earth, and it overflowed with blessing (Psalm 65:9).

God doesn’t visit and leave you the same. And when you carry His presence like Mary did everywhere you go becomes a ground for miracles.

Be a messenger of joy. Elizabeth said, “The moment your greeting reached my ears, the baby leapt for joy!” What kind of presence do you carry? When you walk into a room, does joy follow or gossip? Do you bring peace or pressure?

Mary’s visit was a Eucharistic visit, she brought Christ in her womb. And what she carried overflowed into joy, prophecy, and song. Beloved, when you carry Jesus, every visit becomes a divine encounter.

Start visiting again, it’s a Ministry. Let us reclaim the lost ministry of visitation: Visit the sick, not only the dead. Visit the lonely, not just the popular. Visit the aged, the grieving, the forgotten, and even the strong who pretend they are fine. And above all visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament!

You want God to visit you? Visit Him first! Sit with Him, speak to Him, and let His presence overflow in your life.

Prayer

Father, by Your divine visitations, You transformed history. Visit us again today. Fill our homes, hearts, and Church with joy, healing, and salvation. And give us the grace to carry You to others as Mary did. Amen
