HOMILY FOR WEDNESDAY OF THE FOURTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR 1

 Pit to Purpose

GENESIS 41:55-57, 42:5-7, 17-24; PSALM 33; MATTHEW 10:1-17

Joseph was thrown into a pit and forgotten by men, but never by God. In famine, the same hands that betrayed him reached out to him for help. What looked like a setback became his setup. Beloved, your pit is not your end, it’s the beginning of your platform. God is preparing you for something greater than the pain.

When Joseph saw his brothers, he didn’t seek revenge, he wept. That is maturity. True greatness is not in how high you rise, but in how deeply you forgive. God lifts us not to crush others, but to restore. Your tears may be private, but heaven counts them.

In the Gospel, Jesus sends out the Twelve as labourers in His vineyard, just like Joseph, who was positioned to save lives. You are someone’s hope in a hard season. Let go of fear, hold on to faith. Even when betrayed or burdened, God’s plan still stands. Don’t waste your trial, there is purpose in the pressure.

Prayer:

Lord, turn our pain into purpose and our trials into triumph. Make us faithful and forgiving. Amen.
