The Beatitudes
Col. 3:1–11 / Ps.145 / Luke 6:20–26
The Beatitudes are not sweet words for comfort; they are a radical call to reorder our values. Jesus contrasts blessings with woes: poverty vs riches, hunger vs fullness, sorrow vs laughter, rejection vs praise. In short, heaven’s values overturn the world’s standards. Your attitude to life determines your eternal altitude!
Theologically, the Beatitudes reveal to us that blessedness is not about material possession but about participation in God’s life.
Paul reminds us: “Seek the things above, where Christ is” (Col. 3:1–2). Stop chasing shadows; set your heart on what lasts. Riches fade, applause dies, but the joy of Christ endures. The Beatitudes also challenge us to check our pursuits; are we living for God’s approval or man’s applause? Holiness is not about having more but about becoming more in Christ.
Prayer: Lord, free us from shallow attitudes and fix our hearts on what truly matters. Amen.
