HOMILY FOR FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK (YEAR 1)

Wasted Grace

Baruch 1:15–22; Psalm 78; Luke 10:13–16

Jesus condemned Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, not for ignorance, but for wasting grace. Cities blessed with light, yet drowned in pride. To whom much is given, more is expected; wasted opportunities invite harsher judgment.

Like them, many know the sacraments but neglect them; we hear the truth but delay repentance. Baruch reminds us: negligence, not God, causes most of our suffering. What we call “spiritual attack” is often self-inflicted negligence.

Reject Christ’s messengers, reject Christ Himself; reject Christ, reject God. The choice is yours: wasted grace or saving response. St. Thérèse shows us the better way, embracing sacrifice, not squandering grace.

PRAYER:

Lord, save us from wasted graces and help us respond with true repentance. Amen.
